In 2021, 25 companies decided to invest in property on one of the 53 business parks owned by IDELUX Développement in Luxembourg Province. This is an encouraging result for our economy, given the health crisis that we are just putting behind us. All the more so because these figures are being corroborated in 2022
Let’s start with a “family photo”: 25 sales, in other words, 25 teams that have carefully reflected on their growth and decided to invest in their real estate. And this is happening throughout the whole of Luxembourg Province, as shown in the map opposite. In total, nearly 12 hectares. Together, these 25 companies account for 482 jobs.
These all represent families whose livelihoods have been bolstered. When they can’t manage with their own funds, businesses have to borrow. In other words, put a convincing case across for the reliability of their projects. And they have managed to do just that. In addition, new businesses are giving a real boost to the construction industry, as well as the industrial equipment sector. Some people refer to this as a virtuous circle, and we are delighted to be able to play our own part in it.
Let’s meet 4 companies from luxembourg province
So we’ve given you the big picture. Things get even more interesting when we get to know some of these dynamic companies a bit better. We have chosen four of them to put under the spotlight.
Starting with the family-run business Pierret (Transinne, Le Cerisier business park). A real Luxembourg success story with strong roots in Belgium and France. At the end of 2016, the company embraced a growth strategy that is now bearing fruit, as shown by its turnover (€55M in 2015, compared with €73.5M in 2019) and its staff (340 FTEs in 2015 compared with 410 now). In the wake of this success, the company is investing an additional €8 million in Transinne to boost its production capacity by 50% by expanding its main workshop and recruiting 50 members of staff over time.
Originally from Rochefort, Nido Concept sprl has been up and running since 2014, working as a general contractor, and more specifically helping to design low-energy turnkey homes and home extensions combining innovative techniques and elegant designs. By making the decision to grow their business in Marche-en-famenne (Wex business park), the company is planning to raise its profile and enhance its brand image while expanding its catchment area. It is investing in a 42-acre plot on which it is currently building administrative premises, a showroom, a workshop and a storage area. The total investment is €800,000 and involves 16 jobs, including 5 new ones.
Baltus Marc was founded in La Roche in 1908. The company has been producing fresh meat, charcuterie and cured meats for 4 generations. It also has branches in Bastogne, Durbuy and Tenneville, with a commitment to respecting tradition and terroir. The company made the decision to expand at the Vecmont business park, opening premises there to house cold rooms, a processing workshop for its products and of course, a storage area. The building’s surface area is 0.35 hectares. The total investment involved is €1.5M. The company employs 45 people and plans to recruit three new members of staff.
The fourth example from our 2021 crop: Luxoutside. This company assembles and installs carports and has been based in Florenville since 2017. As a result of its growth, the company has acquired a plot of land covering just over 0.17 hectares to expand its current facilities. Investment: 500,000 Euros. Five jobs.
These examples sum up the economic energy that our region has managed to maintain, despite the “demanding” context. And for IDELUX’s teams, this energy is a powerful driving force, consolidating our commitment to one another.
Behind the scenes at idelux development
The IDELUX Development team works tirelessly to make sure that each project finds exactly the right fit. First of all, we really listen to what economic stakeholders need and strive to anticipate their demands. We then work hard to make sure spaces are perfectly equipped so that they can get on with their work or trade. This means mobilising adequate resources… years in advance. This is what our region needs to do if it wants to remain open to economic initiative. In the whole of Luxembourg Province, there are currently around 400 hectares available to businesses. For example, last year we finished work updating the Hotton-Boudon park. It is now available to business keen to set up premises there. We are following this with the extension of the Wellin and Tintigny business parks. We are also working on new projects in Arlon, Marche, Neufchâteau and Bertrix. For these, we will have to be patient for a little while longer. These projects always take a bit of time.
In addition to the work involved in establishing the right facilities, our team of business consultants works closely with companies every day. In fact, although their work begins with the initial contact and the first sign of interest, it extends well beyond choosing a location, encompassing a range of valuable services in (almost) every field of expertise that a company might need.
What about funding? IDELUX Finances has been involved in real estate leasing for more than twenty years. Luxembourg Développement, run by local businessmen, supports investment in growing SMEs.
When it comes to the sensitive subject of the environment, the Environmental Law department offers exceptionally skilled and efficient advice: against a sometimes uncertain legal backdrop, it can be incredibly useful to get help when it comes to securing a permit or authorisation or complying with soil regulations.
Do you have a quirkier project in mind? Our innovation department can help by suggesting creative techniques, helping you protect a brand, fund research, explore the potential of the circular economy or e-commerce and find the right contacts, plus whatever else you might need.
