Lidl opens its 5th distribution centre in Marche-en-Famenne

This Thursday 23 March, one year after the first stone was laid, Lidl opened its brand new distribution centre located in Aye business park, Marche-en-Famenne. This event was attended by Willy BORSUS, Minister for the Middle Class, SMEs, Self-employed, Agriculture and Social Integration, Jean-Claude MARCOURT, Minister of Economy, Industry, Innovation and the Digital Sector, Maxime PREVOT, Minister of Public Works, Health, Social Action and Heritage, André BOUCHAT, Burgomaster of Marche-en-Famenne, and Elie DEBLIRE, President of IDELUX.

This new distribution centre, which will supply around 60 stores in the provinces of Namur, Luxembourg and Liège as well as the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, has a surface area of 44,000 m². In order to store fresh or frozen products under the best possible conditions, the new centre includes a refrigeration and freezing area of over 10,000 m². It also has 122 unloading bays. This logistics platform will be the first in Belgium to earn the BREEAM certification “Excellent”.

This investment of around €50 million, supported by Wallonia, has made it possible to hire 140 employers, mainly from the province of Luxembourg. This ambitious project will begin operations on 1 April and is part of Lidl’s expansion strategy in Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Lidl’s expansion to Marche-en-Famenne is the result of prospecting work carried out by the IDELUX teams.
